The Fergus Falls baseball team ended their seven game losing streak with a 12-1 victory over the visiting Crookston Pirates on Friday at Legion Field.

The Otters scored their 12 runs on 13 hits. Nine different hitters had at least one hit. Cole Knudson, Brock Kotschevar, Jack Baker and Michael Maanum each collected two hits apiece. The 13 hit attack was the most productive night the Otters have had at the plate this year. Knudson drove in four runs, Baker drove in 3, and Kotschevar plated 2 runs to lead the multiple run attack.

Kotschevar threw five solid innings to earn the victory on the mound. He scattered four hits, struck out six batters, and didn’t issue any walks.

“This game was just what the Otters needed,” commented Head Coach Kevin Pearson. “Brock got a much deserved  win. He has pitched so well this spring, it was nice to see him finally get rewarded. We strung multiple hits together tonight for the first time all year. For all nine starters to get at least one hit was fun to watch!”

The Otters’ next game is Monday when they host the Willmar Cardinals at 5:00pm.
