The Brandon-Evansville baseball team posted a 9-5 win over Parkers Prairie on Thursday at Evansville.  With the win the Chargers improved their season record to 11-4.

Travis Yohnke drilled a two-run home run in the top of the first inning, giving the Panthers an early 2-0 lead.

B-E responded with four runs in the first on a squeeze bunt by Jesse Perleberg and a bases clearing double by Tyler Bitzan.  The Chargers added to their lead in the second on a sacrifice fly from Perleberg, giving B-E a 5-2 lead.

Marshall Riedell got the win on the mound, surrendering three runs over five innings, while striking out five batters.  Tanner Bitzan threw two innings of relief out of the bullpen, allowing one run while striking out two Panther batters.

“We were able to get a few clutch hits tonight and were able to make some plays defensively when we had to,” commented Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “Tyler Bitzan gave us a spark in the first inning with his bases clearing double and Kyle Schaffran turned in two great defensive plays in the outfield.  Parkers Prairie has a quality program and are much more dangerous than their record shows.  They will be a threat in the 6A tournament.”
