Perham Girls Win Third Straight HOL Conference Title

The Perham girls track and field team captured their third straight Heart O’ Lakes Conference title on Tuesday in Hawley, recording 168 points to easily outdistance the rest of the field.  Thief River Falls was runner-up with 100 points, followed by Frazee (73), Barnesville (63), DGF (62), United Clay-Becker (42), Pelican Rapids (38) and Breckenridge (12). Senior Ashley Hokanson set a new HOL pole vault record, clearing 11-feet-6-inches and breaking her own record in the process.

Shalie Lipp (11-00) and Mackenzie Rohloff (9-00) placed second and third, respectively, in the pole vault for the Yellowjackets.

Other first place finishers were Mesa Schultz in the long jump (16-07.50), Lizzy LaFond in the triple jump (33-04), Maggie Ingebrand in the shot put (38-01) and Tayler Parks in the discus (98-09).

Perham won the 4x200 relay (1:49.63), placed second in the 4x400 relay (4:11.66), third in the 4x800 (10:16.22) and seventh in the 4x100 (56.34).

Second place finishers included Schultz in the 200 meter dash (26.76), Mary Wunderlich in the triple jump (32-06) and Samantha Charbonneau in the discus (98-08).  

Third place went to Rachel Muer in the shot put (31-07), Jaden Hackel in the 100 hurdles (17.12), Lauryn Rustad in the 300 hurdles (50.03), Liz Birkeland in the 1600 (5:36.60) and Abby Tweeton in the 3200 meter run (12:44.79).

Finishing fourth were Emily VanWatermulen in the 3200 (13:12.39), Caitlin Covington in the 800 (2:25.29) and Lacy Richter in the 300 hurdles (50.48).

Lipp was fifth in the long jump (15-07) and triple jump (32-02), Mia Lung took fifth in the 3200 (13:20.69), Hailey Wegscheid came in fifth in the 800 (2:30.23) and Lizzy LaFond was fifth in the 100 meter dash (12.96).

Taking sixth for the Yellowjackets were Willow Thiel in the 100 (13.17), Wunderlich in the 400 (1:04.23), Stella Strong in the 800 (2:33.61) and Quincy Anderson in the 1600 (5:45.25).
