The Alexandria Cardinals paid a visit to Fergus Falls on Tuesday and left town with a pair of softball wins over the Otters.

Game one was tied at eight with Alexandria batting in the top of the fifth when an error allowed the go ahead run to cross the plate in a 12-9 Cardinal victory.  Alexandria had 14 hits in the game, led by a 4-for-5 day at the plate by Sydney Christenson.  The Cardinals stole ten bases during the game with four players stealing more than one.

Fergus Falls had 13 hits in the game, led by Gracee Albertson (3-4).  Amzie Aho and Nycole Mouritsen both homered for the Otters.

In game two, Alexandria banged out 15 hits with Christenson going 4-for-4 as the Cardinals completed the sweep with an 11-1 victory.

Kendra Hardy (5IP, 1R, 4H, 2K, 1BB) got the win in the circle.

Gabby Brimhall, Ashlyn Eckhoff, Gretchen Davis and Amzie Aho collected on hit each.

“We fell behind early in the first game, but we battled back and came up just short in the end,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Lisa Truax.  “We had some big hits that kept us in the game.  The second game, offensively we fell flat and our defense fell apart.  The pitching staff got routine fly balls and ground balls and plays weren’t made.  Defense can make or break you and today, it broke us. We hope to bounce back and get focused as we finish out the season on the road.”
