OTC Weekly Softball Recap

It was a tough week for the Ottertail Central softball team as they dropped double headers to Wadena-Deer Creek, Sebeka and Hawley.

It started on Tuesday, May 7 with games against WDC.  The Wolverines capitalized on 9 OTC errors in game one, posting a 15-6 victory.  Hailey Wiederich went 2-for-5 with three runs batted in, 3 runs scored and a double.  Myja Nemeth was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, on RBI and one runs scored, Mackenzie Carsten went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a double, and Mercedes Schulz was 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and 3 runs scored.  Leaders for OTC were Amy Worum (2-3, BB, 2R), Brianna Carter (2-4, RBI), Ruby Dahlen (2-3, 2B, BB, RBI, R) and Dawsen Beske (1-3, 3B, RBI, R).  In game two, the Wolverines won 14-4, once again led by Wiederich (2-3, 3RBI, R), Carsten (2-2, 2RBI, R, 3B) and Nemeth (2-3, RBI, R).  Courtny Warren went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, one run batted in and 3 runs scored.  Top hitters for OTC were Worum (1-3, 2B, RBI, R), Beske (1-3, 2B, RBI, R) and Carter (1-2, 2B, 2RBI).

On Thursday May 9 OTC lost to Sebeka by scores of 8-3 and 10-3.  In game one the Trojans were led by Jolee Lillquist (3-4, 2B, 2RBI), Madison Bullock (2-3, RBI, RI) and Ava Rathcke (1-4, 2RBI, R, HR).  Rathcke (7IP, 7H, 1ER, 1BB, 1K) was the winning pitcher.  The Bulldogs were led by Worum (2-4, 2B, RBI, R) and Dahlen (1-3, 2B, R).  In game two, Ava Rathcke (7IP, 8H, 2ER, 2K, 2BB) was once again the winning pitcher for the Trojans.  Ali Rathcke (2-4, 2B, 4RBI, R) and Maya Lake (2-4, 2 2B, RBI, R) were the hitting leaders for Sebeka.  Carter (3-3) and Madisyn Missling (1-3, 2B, 2RBI, R) led OTC at the plate.

Hawley posted a 4-0 shutout of OTC in the first game of the double header on Friday, May 10, and then blanked the Bulldogs 15-0 in a four-inning game in game two.  Emily Tjaden (7IP, 3H, 7K, 1BB) outdueled Dawsen Beske (7IPm 9H, 4ER, 5K, 0BB) in the circle in the first game, and Hawley received home runs from Abby Rux and Elle Hastings.  Rux (4IP, 1H, 7K, 0BB) was the winning pitcher in game two.  Tjaden (2-4, 2B, HR, 7RBI, R) and Mackenzie Halvorson (2-3, 2B, 2RBI, 2R) were the offensive leaders for the Nuggets.
