Hurricanes Win on Mother's Day

Darin Stanislawski (5IP, 4K, 2BB, 2H, 0R) was the starting and winning pitcher for the Fergus Falls Hurricanes amateur baseball team as they defeated New York Mills 7-1 on Sunday afternoon at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park in Fergus Falls.

The Hurricanes jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.  Sean McGuire and Alex Hensch started the inning with singles and Thomas Bosek bunted for a base hit to load the bases.  Stanislawski delivered a pair of RBI with a single for the first two runs.  After a ground out, Jake Anderson doubled in two and took third place on an outfield error.  A ground out by Jack Hiedeman scored Anderson.

Fergus Falls added their other two runs in the third.  With one out, Stanislawski singled, Alex Hexum walked and Jake Anderson singled to load the bases.  Jack Hiedeman reached on an error with Stanislawski scoring.  A ground out by Allan Mekash scored Hexum and the ‘Canes led 7-0.

The Millers scored their only run in the sixth when Brandon Kupfer drew a one out walk, stole second and scored on a single by Tyler Patron.

Leaders for the Hurricanes were McGuire (2-5, R, 2SB), Bosek, (2-4 R, 3B), Stanislawski i(3-4, 2R, 2RBI) and Anderson (2-4, R, 2B, 2RBI).

Fergus Falls will play at Pelican Rapids on Sunday, May 19 with a 1:30pm starting time.
