Arrows Split with Ortonville

The Ashby Arrows and Ortonville Trojans split a softball double header on Monday with the Arrows winning game one 14-10 and the Trojans taking game two 6-5.

The Arrows won the opener despite giving up six runs in the fourth inning.  Bats blistered as Ashby collected 12 hits and Ortonville tallied seven.  The Arrows pulled away for good with nine runs in the second inning.  Josey Ness delivered a two-run single, Madison Bestul and Courtney Koefod each came through with RBI singles and Anna Thormodson singled to drive in two runs.  Amelia Barry also collected an RBI on a base hit.  Ness (5IP, 10R, 7H, 6K) earned the win for the Arrows.  Ashby tallied 12 hits in the contest with Bestul, Koefod, Anissa Heinrich, Kalista Aamot and Barry each managing multiple hits.  The Arrows had ten stolen bases in the game.

Even though the Arrows collected four hits to Ortonville's one in game two, Ashby still won by the score of 6-5.  The arrows notched four of their five runs in the second inning as Koefod, Aamot and Josey Ness all drove in runs in the inning.  Mariana Eustice led Ortonville to the victory in the circle as she went five innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out two.  Ness (2IP, 2R, 0H, 1BB) took the loss for the Arrows.  Bestul (3IP, 4R, 2H, 3K) pitched 3 innings, allowing 4 runs on two hits and striking out 3.  

Jaiden Conroy took the loss for Ortonville, giving up 14 runs on 12 hits over four innings of work.

Koefod hit a second inning home run for the Arrows and Barry went 2-for-3 at the plate.
