Pelican Rapids Runs Softball Winning Streak to 4 Games

The Pelican Rapids Softball team stretched their current winning streak to four games by following up a double header sweep (14-13, 17-11) over Barnesville on Thursday with an 8-2 win over Ottertail Central on Friday, May 3.  With the wins, the Vikings improve to 5-4 on the 2019 season.

Sylvia Pesch pitched 6 innings vs OTC to earn the win, while giving up two runs on three hits.  Holly Bergquist came in to earn the last 3 outs to preserve the win for Pelican Rapids.  

Offensively, the Vikings were led by Natalie Williams (3-4, 2 2B, 2 Runs, 2 RBI), Holly Bergquist (3-4, 2 Runs, 1 RBI), and Kiera Booth (2-3, 2B, 2 Runs, 1 RBI).

Sylvia Pesch started both games pitching for the Vikings to earn two wins on Thursday in Barnesville, with Holly Bergquist earning a 6-out save in game 1.  

The Pelican Rapids bats were scorching hot all evening long, recording a total of 27 hits in the two games.  In Game 1, the Vikings were led by Sarah Thompson with 3 hits.  Vanassa Booth and Brianna Colosky also had 2 hits apiece.  Greta Tollefson scored 2 runs on one hit as well.

In Game 2, the Viking nine were led by Vanassa Booth and Sarah Thompson with 3 hits each.  Grace Peterson, Greta Tollefson, and Kiera Booth each tallied 2 hits to contribute to the offensive onslaught.  

This week, the Vikings host Perham on Monday, May 6 in an HOL Doubleheader with the first pitch slated for 4:00pm at Chauncey Martin Field.

On Tuesday, May 7 the Vikings travel to Fergus Falls Hillcrest to take on the Comets at 3:00pm.
