The Fergus Falls Hurricanes opened the amateur baseball season with a 4-1 win over the Perham Pirates on Sunday at Al Krueger Field at Tuffy’s Stadium in Perham.

Winning pitcher Darin Stanislawski (6IP, 8K, 2BB, 0H, 0R) didn’t allow a hit through his six innings on the mound and Thomas Bosek (3IP, 4K, 1BB, 2H, 1R, 0ER) gave up only one unearned run as he recorded the save.

The Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead in the sixth.  Erik Hiedeman doubled to lead off the inning and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Jake Erickson.  Hiedeman then scored on a double by Bosek.  Bosek came across the plate on a two-base hit by Stanislawski.  In the eighth, back-to-back doubles once again by Bosek and Stanislawski played two more runs to put the ‘Cane in front 4-0.

Perham scored their only run in the bottom of the eighth when they loaded the bases and Noah Rooney scored on a passed ball.  Bosek was able to pitch out of the jam to preserve the win.

Nick Lindberg (6IP, 6K, 0BB, 2ER) took the loss for the Pirates.
