Bulldogs Rally to Beat Menahga

With the game tied at 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth inning on Tuesday, Ottertail Central put together a rally and took a 9-6 lead into the seventh inning.  Menahga pushed across a pair of runs but OTC held them off and recorded a 9-8 victory.

Tom Litzau got Menahga on the board first when he launched a two-run homer in the top of the first inning, however, the Bulldogs came up with four runs in the home half of the first to take a 4-2 advantage.  Kayne Cameron drove in a pair of runs with a base hit in the inning.  The game was tied a 4-4 when Ivan Anderson pulled a two-run homer over the left field fence in the top of the third.  OTC scored a pair of runs to tie the game, setting up the sixth inning which saw Nate Stavaas single, driving home Daxton Olson, and Andy Weniger blasting a double to scored Stavaas and Dylan Trana then doubled home Weniger to make the score 9-6.

 

Cameron (2IP, 1H, 2R, 2K, 0BB) got the win in relief of Olson (5IP, 6R, 7H, 4K, 0BB).  Anderson (4IP, 5R, 8H, 4K) started the game for Menahga.

The Bulldogs collected 13 hits on the day with Stavaas, Trana, Weniger, Jack Grabe and Drake Larsen all collecting multiple hits, led by Stavaas with three hits in four at bats.

Coach Ryan Hendrickson commented, “It was great to see our offense step up and win this game.  Our pitchers threw well and we were able to put up a big number.”

The Bulldogs will play at Sebeka on Thursday and travel to Parkers Prairie on Friday for a double header, before hosting their elementary baseball camp on Saturday at 10:00am in Underwood.
