The Pelican Rapids softball team won their contest in Ashby on Thursday, posting an 18-15 victory over the Arrows on a very windy evening.

The Vikings had 11 hits as a team, led by seniors Sarah Thompson (3H, 3R) and Grace Peterson (2H, 2R). Sophomore Holly Bergquist had two hits and scored three runs.  Eighth-grader Sylvia Pesch started for the Vikings and threw five innings to earn the win.  Bergquist came on in relief to get the six-out save, preserving the Pelican Rapids win.

Pelican Rapids broke a 15-15 tie in the sixth inning.  Ashby had 15 hits in the game.  They were led by Kyra Aamot, Madison Bestul, Brynn Krupke, Anna Thormodson, Kalista Aamot and Josey Ness, all of whom had multiple hits.  Kyra Aamot went 3-for-5 at the plate and three Ashby players stole at least two bases with Amelia Barry leading the way with four steals.
