The Fergus Falls girls golf team traveled to Willmar on Thursday for a Central Lakes Conference meet in windy conditions.

Greta Christenson led the Otters in scoring with a 99 and fellow senior Amy Johnson shot a 104.  Ella Mayer came in with a 107, Ellia Soydara a 109, Sydney Thacker a 110 and Mady Eklund a 111.

“The conditions were tough,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “It was so windy the golf ball on the greens at times were being moved by the wind.  Almost unplayable at times due to pin locations and speed of the greens.  However, the girls played hard, they all had a few holes that elevated their scores but each player also had numerous quality holes.  We are still in the stages of the season where we have not been able to have our rounds be in full control but that is to be expected this early in the season.  We just want to work on a few key areas in practice and with time our team score will come down.”

Alexandria won the team title with a 346 and Brainerd took second with a 373.  Sartell was third with a score of 379, followed by Willmar (403), Fergus Falls (419), Rocori (419), St. Cloud Apollo/Tech (447) and Sauk Rapids-Rice (689).

Hannah Boraas of Alexandria was medalist with an 80 and her teammate, Ciara O’Connor was runner-up with an 82.  Amanda Mathiasen of Willmar shot an 89 to finish third, followed by Cora Larson of Alexandria with a 90, Anna Krieger of Brainerd with a 92 and Taylor Scepaniak of Sartell with a 92.
