The Fergus Falls boys tennis team hosted the favorite for Section 8A and possibly 8AA on Thursday as Willmar and Thief River Falls made the trip.

“First up was Willmar and guys came out and played really well overall,” stated Head Coach Titus Christianson of the Otters. “We ended up losing 7-0 but had some competitive sets. I was very pleased with our effort against Willmar and the guys showed a lot of improvements in their games. We then followed that up with a loss to TRF who is ranked 5th in the state in Class A. We lost 1-6 with Conner Ackerson picking up the lone win at 4 singles. Conner found a way to keep the ball in longer than his opponent on a very windy day. It was nice to see him battle through the tough conditions to outlast his opponent. TRF overall was just too deep for us and they will be very tough to beat come playoff time.”

The Otters go to Perham today for a match with the Yellowjackets at 4:30pm. The Otters will get some much needed practice time together outside next week. They travel to Detroit Lakes for a triangular with the Lakers and Bemidji on Tuesday.
