The Breckenridge Cowboys swept Hawley on Thursday, improving their conference record to 2-0 and their overall record to 4-0. The Cowboys defeated the Nuggets 16-8 in game one and 12-2 in 5 innings in game two.

The Cowboys explosive offense scored 28 runs in 12 innings picking up 15 hits in game one and 10 hits in the shortened game two. Hunter Feigum and Joe Skilbred each had 5 hits on the day, Cooper Yaggie, in his varsity debut, had 4 hits on the day and Jack Aigner and Jake Wendorff each had 3 hits. Wendorff, Aigner and Feigum each also had home runs for the Cowboys.

Cooper Yaggie pitched the first 4 innings for the Cowboys and Wendorff threw the final 3 picking up the win. Wendorff continued in game two and threw all 5 innings for the Cowboys picking up his second win of the day.

“It was an impressive offensive performance today against a pretty solid Hawley pitching staff,” said Head Coach Kevin Hiedeman. “We struggled a little bit defensively today but our pitching was solid.”

The Cowboys get no break as they head to East Grand Forks Friday for a double header which will be their 4th and 5th games in four days.

“We will really challenge our young pitching staff which will be a good test for us,” added Coach Hiedeman.
