The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville track and field teams competed in their first outdoor meet in Morris on April 9 ahead of a blizzard.

“It was a frigid meet, but a chance to get outside and compete,” said head coach Jennifer Froemming. “If we would have had other meets outdoors already, this one would have been cancelled. However, it was good to be on an outdoor track and compete in all of the events. It will be a meet to remember!”

Senior Aanika Anderson placed 5th in the 400m dash in a time of 1:08.41. Eighth grader Valerie Deschene was sixth in the 300m hurdles in a time of 57.31 seconds, a personal best.

Senior Eli Anderson brought home a third in the 110 m hurdles in 18.37 seconds followed by junior Sam Fuller in fifth with a time of 18.54 seconds. Fuller also placed sixth in the 300m hurdles in 51.28 seconds. Sophomore Cade Carlson ran the 100m dash in 11.66 and finished eighth. Nathan Baumann had a personal best long jump at 18 feet 5 inches earning him fourth place. Jake Rein was fifth in high jump with a leap of 5 feet 4 inches and a fifth place finish.
