Cole Fronning tossed seven shutout innings in the second game of a double header with Brainerd, however, Fergus Falls managed only two hits as the Warriors posted a 3-0 win to complete a sweep on Tuesday.  Brainerd scored all three of their runs in the tenth inning. The Warriors won the first game, 5-3.

Nic Pearson and Cole Knudson each had a single for the Otters.  Fronning allowed only two hits, walked two batters and recorded a pair of strikeouts.

Samuel Miller and Broc Peterson combined on the 2-hit shutout with Miller striking out seven in five hitless innings.  Ben Jones knocked in two runs and the Warriors stole five bases in the nightcap.

“The second game was a great pitcher’s duel,” said Head Coach Kevin Pearson. “Unfortunately, we only mustered two hits in the game.  In the first game we had a seventh inning rally that closed the gap to two runs but we couldn’t come all the way back.  I was very pleased with our defense. Our pitchers threw strikes, we made the routine plays, and we also made some spectacular plays in the outfield.  If we continue to do those things, we will have the chance to win a lot of baseball games.”

Ashwin Stratton pitched four innings and gave up two runs, while striking out four.  Brock Kotschevar pitched the last two innings, allowing 3 earned runs.  Cole Knudson and Michael Wiederich led the Otters at the plate with two hits each.  Knudson drove in a pair of runs and the other RBI went to Michael Maanum.
