After winning the Heart O’ Lakes Conference girls golf title last season, the Perham Yellowjackets look to challenge for the championship again as they return three all-conference players from that team.

Perham lost HOL Golfer of the Year Kolbey Bormann to graduation, but all-conference golfers Allie King, Mallory Belka and Lexi Kunza are all back.  King and Belka were both state participants last year.  Sophomore letter winners Hope Rosen and Rylee Hunt also return.  The Yellowjackets also have ten other players back from last years’ squad, including five juniors, one more sophomore and four eighth graders.

“I think just getting outside will be the biggest challenge this season,” said Head Coach Cory Solberg.  “That usually means a shorter, more condensed season and consistency will be a key aspect of the 2019 season.  We have a great returning team and are looking to add to that.  This is a great group of girls to work with, so hopefully we can get outside sooner, rather than later.”

Becky Butenhoff will assist Solberg.

Detroit Lakes, Crookston and Thief River Falls will present some of the toughest competition in Section 8AA, a section Coach Solberg says is “the toughest in the state.”
