The Brandon-Evansville Chargers scored four first inning runs and jumped to an early 5-0 lead on the way to a 7-3 victory over West Central Area on Tuesday in Evansville.

In the four run first inning Keagan Schiele drew a walk, Tanner Bitzan was hit by a pitch, Corbin Olson, Gaven Jacobson and Jesse Perleberg all came through with RBI singles and Tyler Bitzan delivered a sacrifice fly.

The Chargers added a run in the second inning to build a 5-0 lead, but West Central Area scored twice in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-2.  The Chargers added insurance runs on Perleberg’s RBI in the fifth and Schiele’s RBI in the sixth.

“We were able to gain an early lead and play pretty solid defense against a good WCA team,” stated B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “We got some timely hitting and received an excellent pitching performance from Marshall Riedel (6IP, 10K, 7H, 3R).

Grant Beuckens had two hits for the Knights, including a double, and Isaiah Sykora had two hits in four at bats.
