Fergus Falls Girls Basketball Awards

The Fergus Falls girls basketball team celebrated their Section 8AAA championship season with the awards night on Sunday.  The team finished with a record of 23-6 overall and a 12-3 Central Lakes Conference mark. They also received the academic silver award with a team GPA of 3.58.

“It was a great honor to coach this group of girls this year,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Brad Strand.  “They came to practice each and every day with the energy and attitude needed to improve.  It was a very fun and rewarding year.”

 

Award winners were Sabrina Fronning (CLC All-Conference Honorable Mention, Captain, Co-Ms. Hustle, Most Steals – 86, Best FG% - 63%, CLC Player of the Week), Lily Pearson (CLC All-Conference – 3rd year, AAA All-State Honorable Mention, Best FG% - 63%, Most Rebounds – 212, Outstanding Team Member – Culture, Captain, CLC Player of the Week, Academic All-State), Ellie Colbeck (CLC All-Conference, Co-Ms. Hustle, Most Points – 470, Most Assists – 124, Best FT% - 83%, CLC Player of the Week), Tori Ratz (CLC All-Conference Honorable Mention, Best 3 point FG% - 42%), Sam Evavold (CLC All-Conference Honorable Mention), Paige Pearson (Most Improved), Carlie Meis (Best “Scout” Practice Player), and Emma Norgard (Academic All-State, Captain). Nycole Mouritsen, Emma Norgard and Lily Pearson all received CLC Scholar Honors.  Lily Pearson finished her career with 1,197 points and 898 rebounds.

 

The JV team finished the season with a record of 20-3 and the B Squad was 20-2.  Kevin Pearson and Alyssa Huseby were the coaches.

 

“We are looking forward to an excellent off-season to improve our skills, strength and chemistry,” said Coach Strand.  “We will be competing in the Section 8AA section tournament next year, but our schedule will not be changing much.”
