With eleven returning letter winners and several starters back for the 2019 season, the Ashby Baseball team is poised to make some positive strides on the field as they try to improve on their 3-13 record of a year ago.

Seniors Dakota Ecker (P/IF), Scott Johnson (P/IF) and Christian Norby (P/IF/OF), juniors Noah Johnson (UT) and Vince Finkelson (UT), sophomore Jaden Norby (P/OF), and freshmen Carson Spangler (P/OF), Torin Olsen (P/IF), Hunter Norby (P/IF), Carter Spangler (P/IF) and Evan Paulson (OF) all return for Head Coach Jared Larson, now in his fifth year at the helm.  Sophomore Miles Hoff (1B) and freshman Matson Hoff (C/OF) are expected to gain some varsity playing time.

“I am really excited about this upcoming season,” said Larson.  “The three seniors on the squad have been starting for me since they were eighth graders.  We have great pitching depth and more experience than years past.  I look for us to outwork teams and play fundamentally sound baseball.”

Dwight Walvatne and Casey Stokesbary will assist Larson.

Larson says Brandon-Evansville and Border West are among the top teams in both the Pheasant Conference and Section 6A, with New York Mills also listed as a top team in 6A.
