Breckenridge/Wahpeton Head Coach Abbi Johnson welcomes back four returning starters from their 7-9 team of a year ago, but is counting on several newcomers to step in and fill varsity roles during the 2019 season.

Seniors Nina Jirak (2B/P) and Lauren Johnson (1B/OF), junior Vanessa Sunderland (OF) and sophomore Paige Kelsen (3B/OF) all return.  Freshmen Kaitlyn Pithey (C), Anaka Lisne (P/IF) and Ana Erickson (C/IF) are among the top prospects to step into varsity spots.

“We have some young players coming up the ranks and our varsity team will be very young this year,” said Johnson.  “We have a lot of hard workers who want to learn and grow in their softball skills. Overall, everyone has a great attitude about working together, even if we are inside for a long period of time again this season.  Another great addition to our team is a pitching/catching coach, Margaret Wilson.  She will really help pitchers and catchers grow, especially since our girls are so young.”

Ali Madsen (Head JV/Assistant Varsity Coach) is also on the staff.

Hawley, DGF and Perham are the top teams in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference and in Section 8AA.
