A big graduating class in 2018 has left some holes in the lineup for the Barnesville softball team, however, with five returning starters the Trojans are poised to compete at a high level in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference and Section 8AA.

“We expect to compete in every game and improve on a day-to-day basis,” commented third year head coach Aaron Schindler.  “We will be fairly young, but this team is hungry and loves to compete in everything they do.  They are a very tight knit group that pushes each other every day to give their max effort.”

Seniors Grace Hagen (1B), Wylie Lewis (3B), Kaitlin Maesse (2B) and Natalie Votava (OF), and sophomore Sam Passa (IF) all return as starters.

Coach Schindler will be looking to seniors Jaycie George (OF), Mersadez Burnside (OF) and Mariah Lewis (OF), junior Payton Lewis (3B) and Shayla Rambow (P), sophomore Hallie Redding (C) and freshmen Lauren Halverson (P/1B), Lexi Bolgrean (P/SS), Trinity Gregg (P/OF), Kiana Amundson (C), Anna Stanford (OF) and Katie Newell (OF) to step into roles in the varsity program.

Schindler will be assisted by Alison Willers, Maddie Spilde, Nikki Gregg, Grace Drewicke, Sydney Honek and Ann Halverson.

Hawley, DGF, Park Rapids Area and Thief River Falls will all be in the battle for supremacy in Section 8AA, while Hawley and DGF seem to be the teams to beat in the HOL.
