As Bill Aufdenkamp steps up to the head coaching role at West Central Area High School, the lady Knights will be looking to repeat their success of a year ago when they finished 21-5 overall and 12-2 in conference play.  Losing front line pitcher Brianna Kreft, along with Hannah Anderson and Izzy Wittbrodt, certainly creates some holes in the lineup, but with an experienced group of returning players optimism is high in Barrett.

“We have a nice bunch of returning starters and are very good defensively,” assessed Coach Aufdenkamp.  “Staying mentally tough when things don’t go our way is an area where we hope to improve as the season goes on.  We also hope to be consistent in our efforts to play hard and do our best.”

Returning starters include senior Kaitlyn Sanstead (OF), juniors Hailey Bennett (SS, P), Hailey Hanson (3B), Ellie Herman (C, OF) and Savannah Swenson (OF), sophomore Madi Hanson (2B) and freshman Lexi Bright (C, OF).  Other returning letter winners are junior Ireland Winter (P) and sophomore Emma Swenson (P).

New prospects are juniors Ryanne Long (1B, C), Shelby Gilsdorf (OF) and Kaleigh Anderson (IF), freshman Kennedy Ulrich (IF) and eighth-grader Clair Stark (P).

Aufdenkamp will be assisted by Miah Ulrich and Samantha Lindquist.  Aufdenkamp says Brandon-Evansville will be the main challenger to the Knights in the conference, with Browervile and B-E battling the lady Knights for sub-section supremacy.
