Niki Welde begins season number nineteen as Head Coach of the Fergus Falls Girls Track and Field program.  The Otters have state qualifiers Sabrina Fronning (300 hurdles), Audrey Mudford (high jump) and Jadyn McKeever (pole vault) returning, with Fronning (44.29) and McKeever (10’ 0”) holding school records in their events.

The Otters also had some great success in relay events, earning Central Lakes Conference honors in the 4 x 200 (Anna Anderson, Vivian Karsnia, Miranda Hoffman, Sabrina Fronning), the 4 x 100 (Karsnia, Hoffman, Ashlyn Fronning, Anderson) and the 4 x 400 (Izzy Strege, Olivia Kaliher, Sabrina Fronning, Mudford).

“We have depth in all areas this season,” said Welde.  “We are really looking forward to being competitive within the section and CLC and at the True Team Section meet.  We also have our two state cross country qualifiers joining us as varsity runners this spring, sophomore Emily Nuss and seventh grader Aspen Rohde.”

Welde says Moorhead is the Section 8AA favorite, while Alexandria is the top team in the CLC.

Sam Meyer, Derek Meyer, Ike Carlson, Denny Hystead, and volunteer coaches Sam Velde and Sarah Delaney, will be assisting Welde.

The Otters were scheduled to host the Harrington Invitational on Tuesday, but that meet has been canceled and will not be reschedules.
