The Henning Hornets captured the Minnesota Class A Boys Basketball Championship on Saturday at Target Center with a convincing 67-42 triumph over Northwoods.

Henning led 36-17 at the half and finished the game with a shooting percentage of 55.3% (26-47) and a 3-point percentage of 35.3% (6-17).  They also forced 24 turnovers by the Grizzlies, which led to 34 points for the Hornets.

Northwoods scored 83 points a game on the average during the regular season, but by holding them to 42 points the Hornets shut down their offense as the Grizzles made just 30.6% (15-49) of their field goal attempts and only 4-of-22 (18.2%) from beyond the arc.

Sam Fisher had another outstanding game, leading the Hornets with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.  He also distributed 3 assists and made 7-of-11 field goal attempts and 8-of-10 free throws.  Parker Fraki had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, and Blake Wallevand was also in double digits with 12 points, while dishing out 4 assists.  Wallevand made all five of his shots from the floor.  Adam Lange pulled down 6 rebounds and Isaac Fisher had 9 points.

Trevor Morrison recorded a double-double (11 points, 12 rebounds) and Chase Kleppe had 10 points and 8 rebounds.  Point guard Cade Goggleye was held to just 5 points, but did have 4 assists.  The Grizzlies end the season with a record of 29-3.  It was the third straight runner-up finish for Northwoods in the Class A State Tournament.

Henning wins their first title in what was their third trip to state and their first since 1966.  The Hornets had a final record of 31 wins and 1 loss.

Sam Fisher, Parker Fraki and Isaac Fisher were named to the All-Tournament team.
