Perham Boys Win 8AA Title with 53-47 Win Over Hawley

The Perham Yellowjackets won the Boys Section 8AA Basketball title with a 53-47 win over Hawley on Saturday night at Concordia College in Moorhead.

Perham was led by Jensen Beachy (17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists), Finn Diggins (12 points, 4 rebounds and Josh Jeziorski (10 points, 5 rebounds.  John LaFond dished out a team high 5 assists, Carter Cresap had three, and Charlie Rasmussen had a pair of helpers.  Perham made 52.6% (20-38) of their field goal attempts and shot 30% (3-10) on 3-pointers.  The Yellowjackets made 10-of-14 (71.4%) of their free throws.

 

Noah Glad paced Hawley with 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Jacob Vetter scored 14.  The Nuggets hit 51.5% (17-33) of their shots from the floor and 11-of-14 (78.6%) of their foul shots.

 

Perham (29-1) won for a twenty-eighth straight time and will be making their fourth appearance in the state tournament, their first since 2013.  The Yellowjackets will play their quarterfinal round game on Wednesday with game time and opponent to be determined when the coaches seed the teams on Sunday.
