Spartan Baseball Teams Start Florida Trip 2-2

The M State-Fergus Falls baseball team is in Florida where they are in the midst of a ten game schedule over a seven day period.  The Spartans played four games over the weekend, splitting both of their double headers and opening their spring trip with a record of 2-2.

On Saturday, M State played Owens Community College, losing 12-1 in the first game, but winning the second game by the score of 7-1. 

 

The Spartans only hit in the first game came from Rory DrewesMatt Pietsch had a stolen base and Devin Bush scored the only run.  Levi Arnold (4.1IP, 5H, 6ER, 5BB, 5K) took the loss on the mound.  No stats have been reported from the 7-1 win at this time.

 

On Sunday, M State posted a 7-2 win in the first game of their double header against the third-ranked team in the nation, Niagara.  Jake Dykhoff went 7 innings, striking out 8 batters.  The Spartans lost the nightcap by the score of 10-3.  No further details are available at this time.

 

The Spartans are playing another game against Niagara County Community College Monday morning and will face Minnesota West Community and Technical College from Worthington in a 12:00 noon contest.  They continue their trip with single games against Vermilion on Tuesday, SUNY Adirondack on Thursday and Erie Community College on Friday.
