The Battle Lake boys’ basketball team traveled to Ortonville on Thursday night and saw their season come to the end with a 74-44 loss to the Trojans in a Section 6A first round playoff game.

“We tried hard, but we couldn’t put it together,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach CJ Peeters.  “They are certainly a good team, but we had a ton of turnovers, gave up a lot of offensive rebounds and shot very poorly.  We hope to build, but we will certainly miss our senior work ethic and leadership.”

Brennan Amundson was the only Battler to reach double figures, scoring 19 points.

Tyson Powell led Ortonville with 27 points.  Mitchell Meyer and Zach Kuechenmeister each added 11 points.

Battle Lake ends the season with a record of 11-15.

Ortonville (20-2) will play Hancock on Saturday at 2:45pm in the Section 6A quarterfinals.
