The Fergus Falls (15-11) boys’ basketball team received the number five seed in the Section 8AAA playoffs and will travel to St. Cloud Apollo (14-12) on Tuesday night for the quarterfinal round of the tournament.  Apollo, who the Otters split their regular season series with, held the tie breaker over the Otters in the QRF rankings and moved ahead of Fergus Falls in the final tabulation to earn the home court advantage.

Bemidji (20-4) is ranked number one and will open up against Detroit Lakes (11-15).  Number two seeded Sartell-St. Stephen (18-8) will host Little Falls (10-15), and number three Alexandria (18-8) will be home to Sauk Rapids-Rice (5-21).

The Otters posted a 5-2 record against the teams seeded above them, going 2-0 against Sartell, 1-0 against Bemidji and 1-1 against Alexandria and Apollo during the regular season.  Their record against Section opponents is 8-3, second only to Bemidji’s mark of 6-2.

The winners of the quarterfinal round games will advance to the Section semifinals on Saturday, March 9.
