The Fergus Falls boys basketball team ended the regular season on a high note, defeating last year’s Section 8AAA champions from Sauk Rapids-Rice by the score of 80-67 on Friday night. The Otters made 9 of their 10 3-point field goals in the first half as they built a 52-32 halftime lead.
Seniors Matt Johnson (23), Nic Pearson (13) and Ashwin Stratton (10), and their fourth senior, Bauer Rogelstad had 8 points, all in the first half. Sophomore Dominic Aguilar contributed a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists. Cody Norgren chipped in with 8 points off the bench.
Sauk Rapids-Rice had four players reach double figures, led by Josh Schloe and Jacob Schloe with 25 and 14 points, respectively. Braden Tretter had 11 and Cade Milton-Baumgartner 10.
Fergus Falls (15-11) won for a fourth straight time. The Otters are expected to get a home game on Tuesday night in the Section 8AAA playoffs. The section seeding will be determined by the QRF rating on Saturday.
