Junior Joshua Finseth of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton was a triple-event winner at the Section 8A Boys’ Track and Field Meet on Tuesday, taking first place in the 400 meter dash (49.84), long jump (21-09) and triple jump (45-03.00) as the Rebels scored 76 points to place third in the team competition behind East Grand Forks 79 and Park Rapids Area 78.

Finseth’s teammate Justin Wang, a senior, was third in the 400 (50.41), qualifying by meeting the state time standard.  Rothsay senior Colby Larson qualified for state as runner-up in the long jump (21-08.25).

Barnesville Girls Win Section 8A Track and Field Meet

The Barnesville girls’ track and field team won the Section 8A meet in Park Rapids on Tuesday with 74.50 points.  Second place went to Thief River Falls with 69, followed by Crookston with 52, Park Rapids Area with 48 and Frazee with 40.

State qualifiers for the Trojans include Lindsey Rotz with a first place in the 800 meter run (2:24.23) and a second in the 1600 (5:15.72), Jordan Tschumperlin with a first place in the high jump (5-02.00) and Samantha Passa with a championship in the triple jump (34-04.00).  Tatianna Wiley of Pelican Rapids qualified first in the 400 meter dash (59.59) and the long jump (17-03.00), and Rylee Moore of Frazee was runner-up in both the high jump (5-02.00) and the triple jump (33-10.00).

Breckenridge Hosts Anderson-Schuler Track and Field Meet

The Anderson-Schuler Track and Field meet was held in Breckenridge on Thursday with six teams competing.  Wahpeton won the girls’ team title with 170 points, Frazee was second with 140, Breckenridge third with 122, United Clay Becker fourth with 110, Rothsay fifth with 6 and Hillcrest sixth with 2 points.  The boys’ championship went to Frazee with 150 points, followed by Breckenridge with 125, Wahpeton with 117, Rothsay with 61, United Clay Becker with 59 and Hillcrest with 25 points.
