Otter Girls Fall to Brainerd in CLC Swimming and Diving

By Craig Olson - Brainerd, MN

The Fergus Falls girls swimming and diving team traveled to Brainerd on Thursday for a Central Lakes Conference dual meet which they lost to the Warriors, 101-80.

"Brainerd is a great team to swim against," said Head Coach Brad Childs of the Otters.  "We had some impressive swims even though we were outscored by the Warriors depth.  We moved a few of the girls into other events tonight, learning from those competitions as we near the end of our dual-meet season.  Our primary focus both on competition and practice remains on the upcoming Section meet in the beginning of November."

First place finishers for the Otters were Emilie Carlson in the 200 IM (2:23.00), Ella Childs in the 100 butterfly (1:05.33) and Madison Hubert in the 100 backstroke (1:04.39). Carlson was runner-up in the 100 freestyle (56.95) and Childs in the 200 IM (2:25.91).

Third place finishers for the Otters were Hubert in the 200 freestyle (2:11.21), Emma Koeckeritz in the 50 freestyle (27.29), Emily Frigaard in diving (165.20), Chloe Schindler in the 100 butterfly (1:13.25) and Julia Swanson in the 100 breaststroke. The 200 medley relay team of Koeckeritz, Schindler, Alanna Keller and Brinn Donais also took third place (2:09.55).

Lianna Jepson was fourth in the 500 freestyle (6:36.85) and fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:27.10).
