Breckenridge Post 53 dropped their first game of the legion season to a strong New York Mills team 13-4 on Tuesday.

Mills picked up 13 runs on 13 hits in the game. Post 53, because of the pitch count rule and a double header on Thursday, threw 5 different pitchers in the game. Mitch Porter threw 2 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, no runs were earned. Mitch struck out four and walked one batter. Wes Johnson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 4 runs on three hits, walking two and striking out two. Only two of his runs were earned. EJ Engen pitched an inning giving up 4 runs on three hits and two runs were earned. He walked three and struck out two batters. Andrew Kram pitched 1/2/3 innings giving up one run on two hits, striking three and walking two batters. Jeremy Stack finished the game throwing 2/3 of an inning giving up two runs on two hits. In addition to the 13 hits by Mills, the Post 53 pitching staff also walked 9 batters in 7 innings.

Post 53 was only able to muster 5 hits on the night capped off by a solo home run by Dawson Pedersen. The other four hits came from a single by Kram, Andy Etzler, Nate Phillips and a double by Mitch Porter.

“We had a couple opportunities with loading the bases twice but we unable to get hits with men on base and the game kind of got away from us in the fifth inning,” commented Head Coach Kevin Hiedeman

Post 53 hosts a double header on Thursday against Frazee.
