Thompsons 4 RBI Lead Vikings to Win at OTC

Sarah Thompson wasted no opportunities at the plate on Tuesday, driving in four on three hits to lead Pelican Rapids past Otter Tail Central co-op [Battle Lake/Henning] 16-3 on Tuesday.  Thompson drove in runs on a double in the first and a single in the second.

 

Pelican Rapids secured the victory thanks to 12 runs in the first inning.  Pelican Rapids offense in the inning was led by Shelby Schermerhorn, Claire Strand, Brekken Thorson, Thompson, Taylor Berndt, and  Greta Tollefson, all knocking in runs in the inning.

 

Pelican Rapids got things moving in the first inning, when Madisyn Missling's wild pitch allowed one run to score.

 

Schermerhorn was in the circle for Pelican Rapids. She lasted three innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out one and walking one.

 

Missling was on the rubber for Otter Tail Central co-op [Battle Lake/Henning]. She lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing four hits and eight runs while striking out one.  Dawsen Beske and Daityn Beske entered the game as relief, throwing four innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

 

Pelican Rapids saw the ball well today, racking up 14 hits in the game.  Schermerhorn, Thompson, Allie Haiby, Tollefson, and Thorson all collected multiple hits.  Thompson and Schermerhorn each collected three hits to lead the lady Vikings.  Pelican Rapids tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Rachel Gottenborg led the way with two.
