Fergus Falls Gymnasts Open Season with Win Over Morris

The Fergus Falls gymnastics team defeated Morris in their season opener on Tuesday, 126.225 to 109.00.  In JV action, the Otters won 109.55 to 89.25.

Ashlyn Fronning won the vault competition with a score of 8.4, followed by Emily Frigaard with an 8.3.  Camryn Appert was fourth withi a score of 8.2 and Megan Tossett in her varsity appearance took sixth with a score of 7.9.

On the uneven bars the Otters took first through fifth place with Fronning winning the event with an 8.0.  She was followed by Mayson Jensen (7.7), Lee Lee Albertson (7.575), Appert (7.45) and Frigaard (7.15).

Jensen took first on the beam with a score of 8.75.  Frigaard and Appert tied for second place with scores of 7.75 and Fronning was fifth with a 7.1.

On floor exercise Fronning (8.3) was second behind Olivia Lebrija of Morris.  Appert (8.25) was third and Frigaard (7.65) was fifth.

In the All-Around scoring, Fronning was first with a final total of 31.8.  Appert was second with a 31.65 and Frigaard finished third with a 29.8.

In JV action, the Otters took the top seven places on vault, led by Albertson (8.1).  Abby Strege (7.9) was second, followed by Megan Hughes (7.8).

On the uneven bars Strege was first (7.05), followed by Madison Muchow (6.2) and Isabelle Strege (5.85).

Clarissa Heikes and Olivia Trout tied for first on beam with scores of 6.5.  Isabelle Strege was third (6.0).

On floor exercise the Otters took the top seven places with Trout placing first with a score of 7.4, Tossett second with a 7.1 and Abby Strege third withi a 7.05.

Olivia Trout won the All-Around with a final score of 26.6. Madison Muchow was second with a 26.3, Karolyn Papon was third with a 25.0 and Clarissa Heikes took fourth with a 24.95.

The Otters will be hosting Willmar on Thursday night with the JV match starting the action at 6:00pm.
