Otter Swimmers and Divers Close Out Home Season

By Craig Olson - Fergus Falls, MN

The Fergus Falls girls swimming and diving team closed out the home portion of their season by hosting the Brainerd Warriors on Thursday night at the Kennedy Secondary School pool. The Warriors posted a 101-80 victory over the Otters.

“Congratulations to a very strong Brainerd Warrior Team,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Brad Childs. “We had a great meet with very fast swimming and, once again, excellent diving. We celebrated our last home meet of the season honoring our Senior girls (Camryn Appert, Grace Kelly, Lilly Makovsky and Emily Wollenweber). They all had a great night of swimming and diving with many personal best times, including a ‘cameo’ performance of diver Camryn Appert swimming in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Tonight was also the final meet of the 7th/8th Grade team coached by Rachel Cox. The girls have done very well and we are looking forward to watching their continued pursuit of excellence.”

Ella Childs won the 200 IM (2:27.23) and the 100 butterfly (1:04.92). She was joined on the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:50.97) by Emma Koeckeritz, Brinn Donais and Madison Hubert. She was also a part of the second place 200 medley relay team (2:03.02) along with Koeckeritz, Julia Swanson and Donais. Appert won the diving competition with 236.10 points and Emily Frigaard was fourth (184.45). Madison Hubert won the 100 backstroke (1:06.19) and was third in the 200 freestyle (2:16.20). Swanson took second (1:20.74) and Alanna Keller third (1:21.28) in the 100 breaststroke.

The Otters next meet happens this Saturday at the Section True Team Meet in Detroit Lakes.

Tuesday the Otter Girls close their dual meet season when they travel to Alexandria.
