The Breckenridge Cowboy and Cowgirl Cross Country teams traveled to Pelican Rapids for the Heart O' Lakes Conference meet on Tuesday. For the second year in a row, Joel Niesche and Kelsey Dahlgren came away with All-Conference honors.

Niesche's time of 18:10:26 earned him an 8th place finish, leading the Cowboys to a 6th place team finish. Nic Conzemius continued his strong debut season, finishing 24th overall in time of 19:58:43. Justin Wiertzema (31st), Brendon Skoblik (36th), Nick Stasko (44th), and Travis Wiertzema (47th) rounded out the finishers for Breckenridge.

On the girls side, Dahlgren's time of 16:49.43 earned a 7th place finish in that highly competitive race. Also the Cowgirls, Kacey Herder ran a strong race to finish 23rd in a time of 17:55.37. Caitlin Gerdes (35th), Megan Hansen (38th), Jacie Jawaski (41st), Hollie Crocker (46th), and Regan Whitney (47th) rounded out the finishers for the Breck girls.

On the JV side, Leah Bettin (16th), Natasha Allard (21st), and Blaire Lindberg (22nd) competed for the girls, running some of their better times for the year. Amanda Lemke and Zach Rittenhouse ended their first seasons on a high note, finishing 19th and 29th, in their respective races.

Coach Randy Berndt noted, " It was a good day for running. We knew going into it that Perham would be very strong, and they were. Some of our runners would have liked to have finished higher, but everyone left it all out on the course. As a coach, I am proud of the way our runners ran their hearts out today. That's all we can ask."

Breckenridge competes next in the Section 6A meet on October 23rd in New London-Spicer.
